Our Story

TL;DR:

They matched on the dating app Hinge and now they're getting married!

The Details:

In September 2022, Jessica and Timothy matched on Hinge and they exchanged phone numbers with plans to meet for coffee. Due to unforeseen circumstances Timothy rescheduled their coffee date twice then eventually canceled, citing bad timing and wanting to be considerate of Jessica's time. Jessica thought she'd never hear from him again.

Two months later, something was telling Timothy to reach out to Jessica. He text messaged her to ask if she was willing to meet for a friendly coffee. He was hoping she still remembered him and wasn’t dating someone else.

Jessica was surprised at his text message, but since she was still single and had no other suitors, she decided, “Why not?”

They met at a Tatte in Back Bay to grab coffee and walked around the Boston Common and parts of Back Bay for hours getting to know each other. Before parting ways, they made plans to meet over drinks the following weekend.

Timothy took Jessica to the speakeasy Wink & Nod for their first official date (where they also took some of their engagement session photos!). They talked for hours over Old Fashioneds there and then spent more hours together at Yvonne’s over their Old Fashioneds. They spent over 6 hours together until they finally parted ways for the night.

Jessica felt strong feelings towards Timothy the following days, so she prayed to God to protect her heart towards someone she just met and also asked for a sign. She felt prompted to read about how Isaac and Rebekah got married in Genesis 24. Jessica felt much peace from this story and she kept going back to it in her prayers as she continued to spend more time with Timothy and fall in love with him in the following months as they started exploring New England together and as Jessica watched many of Timothy’s favorite movies for the first time (including Star Wars).

When Timothy’s father passed away in April 2023, Jessica joined Timothy to attend the funeral and spend time with the entire family in Ohio. Her joining him without hesitation helped Timothy confirm that Jessica was indeed “the one.” Though Jessica was already sure Timothy was “the one” long before this, joining him that weekend and being by his side to comfort him helped her to confirm that Genesis 24 was indeed a word meant for them and she was comforted in the midst of grieving the loss of her future father-in-law.

As the months continued to pass, Jessica was slowly nearing the end of PA school. Timothy decided to propose and acquired the engagement ring with the expectation that it may arrive around her graduation day. However, it arrived early and he couldn’t bear to wait. So with the help of a friend from church to capture the moment, Timothy proposed to Jessica on September 30, 2023 in the Boston Common.

Now they’re getting married!

Glad you could join the celebration 🙂
